So, Hannah and I are on our way to Argentina…if we aren’t there already by the time you read this. I suppose there are several posts that I could have written as a prelude to this post, but I was not able to get around to those. So, to catch you up briefly here’s what has happened in the past couple weeks. God has allowed Hannah and I to get in touch with some missionaries (David and Kristen Fulfer) from Argentina who are here in town for furlough. A couple of weeks ago David asked if I would join him in a trip down to Argentina to finish up some stuff there that he needed to take care of. While I was not sure because of my PTO, we checked it out and found out that we could go. So, David and I planned the dates, purchased the tickets, and put a schedule together. (Well, he put the schedule together.) Now we are just hours away from taking off!
I’m going to share with you the itinerary that we have. It includes our agenda and things that you can be praying for each day for us. You will notice that in each date cell, there is some text in the top and text in the bottom. The text in the top area is our agenda and the text in the bottom part is what you can be praying for. Click here for a copy of the calendar in PDF. (more…)

ceibo, dni, ebook, Facts, flower, government
Today, my friend from Córdoba posted a link on Facebook to an eBook to Argentina – Vivir en Argentina (Living in Argentina). The book gives a complete run-down of the country as a whole, the government system, the country’s structure, and plenty more. It is similar information to the CIA World Factbook. It is very educating. Check it out. It’s super useful if you are looking to visit Argentina for a short trip or for life.

Also, while checking out the DNI cards I noticed that the Ceibo, the national flower, was on the card. This interested me so I looked it up for more information. In English it is called the Cockspur Coral Tree. I think I might get one.

cia, ethnicity, Facts, terrain, weather
Let’s start off with some basics about Argentina. Most people I know don’t know much, if anything, about Argentina. So, here are some of the basic facts that I pulled from the CIA Factbook about Argentina.
- Area-comparative: slightly less than three-tenths the size of the US
- Climate: mostly temperate; arid in southeast; subantarctic in southwest
- Terrain: rich plains of the Pampas in northern half, flat to rolling plateau of Patagonia in south, rugged Andes along western border
- Population: 40,913,584 (July 2009 est.)
- Life expectancy at birth: 76.56 years
- Nationality:
- noun: Argentine(s)
- adjective: Argentine
- Religion: nominally Roman Catholic 92% (less than 20% practicing), Protestant 2%, Jewish 2%, other 4%
- Languages: Spanish (official), Italian, English, German, French
- Ethnicity: white (mostly Spanish and Italian) 97%, mestizo (mixed white and Amerindian ancestry), Amerindian, or other non-white groups 3%
I know that I didn’t go into much detail, but I thought that maybe this would give a basic understanding of Argentina.
